New Automatic Renewal Policy and New Web Address for the White Lake Library

We've been making some changes at the library!  Two that will make your life easier are our new "Automatic Renewal" policy, and our switch to a new, shorter, web address.

Automatic renewal is exactly what it sounds like: your books will be automatically renewed for you if they have not been returned by the due date.  This applies only to items eligible for renewal, of course, so if another patron is waiting for your item, for instance, or if it has already been renewed twice, it will not renew automatically.  If you are signed up for email or text notifications, you will get a message telling you which items were renewed, and what the new due date is.  (Not signed up for email or text notifications?  Log in to your account to register your email address, or text SIGNUP to (616) 432-2161 to start getting text notices about your account.  You will need to have your library card number and PIN handy.)

You may have already noticed that our official web address is now wlclib.org, which is so much easier to type on a mobile device than the old whitelakelibrary.michlibrary.org.  Even better, the old address will continue to work indefinitely, so you don't even have to update your bookmarks if you don't want to; you can still get there the old way.

Watch for information on more changes that will be implemented in the next few months.  We are excited about the ways we can make life easier for you!

Parking Lot Maintenance Scheduled

The library parking lot will be closed for maintenance on May 26 and 27, the Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend.  Since our book returns will be unavailable on those days, any items returned by closing time on Tuesday, May 28, will be back-dated to Saturday.  For people wishing to use the bike trail, alternate trailside parking is available at Howmet Park.  The entrance is just around the corner from the library on Mears Avenue; it’s the gravel driveway just north of White Lake Drive.
